The Devils Curse

Yes, you read it right. This dream was indeed a curse upon our poor friend who had experienced it for quite some time. It actually wasn't a dream, but recurring visions that she encountered. It was the same every time and although she knew very well that she was dreaming it was totally out of her control and she could never get out of it. There were times when she woke up screaming and sweating but only after it was over. Her parents had to wake her up by shaking her vigorously when it got out of control. For her it was one of the most grim period of her life. She went through it for more than a month and by the end of it things had become so serious that visits to the psychiatrist were regular.

It always started with her being tossed up in the air and then falling down on her bed itself. This marked the beginning of her terrific night. Just after the drop she saw dark hooded figures which appeared as if they were approaching her with the motive to kill. Some times they strangled her and the other times they tried to stab her or torment her in some or the other way. She always tried to fight back and run but some invisible force pinned her down and made her immobile. The dream felt very real and live as the subconscious was very strong and controlling. The repeated hallucinations were so distressing that even when she shut her eyes for the briefest moment, it came back to haunt her. She was unable to sleep alone for quite some time even after the visions had stopped. It had scarred her for eternity.

Recurring dreams/visions appear during the tough and emotional time of our life. It may or may not have any significance. What they mean is still up for debate. One can interpret their dream in one way and the other in some other way, both could be right or wrong -- no one can know for sure.
However, the dreams are about the dreamer, as are any symbols in them.

The Serpent Scenario

And we are back again with another dream. This is unlike any other as in this one my Mom was the one in danger. Although this one starts with a happy note there is nothing happy about the dream after a point of time.

We were attending a party on our topmost floor of the building and it appeared as if a lot of people were invited. The party seemed to be coming to an end and everyone was dispersing merrily. We were among the last people to leave the soirée. Our floor was just below this one and we decided to take the elevator. There was an eerie silence in the building, not like that of an after party. It was when we had reached our floor, that I realized what was causing the tranquility. On the ground ahead lay numerous slithering creatures, covering the entire lobby, even the staircase. Hardly a fraction of the floor was visible. Those slimy creatures were nothing but huge serpents gathered on the floor, ready to gulp down anyone who came in its way. Which they had already, as the ground was blood-red. I hadn't realized this but the door of the elevator was open. The elevator in my dream was not like the recent ones. It had manually-opened doors like the vintage Otis scissor gates. So we were not really ‘protected’ as such. This was life threatening in a situation especially like this, for one of the snakes in particular had its eyes fixed upon us. He sprang in action as soon as he saw me closing the door. With its huge fangs now stuck on the elevator door I could definitely imagine that he would have swallowed us whole at once, given the chance. The damage had been done as it spit poison and a part of the fatal venom came in touch with my Mom's arm. The area immediately  became sore and looked as if it were burned. At that moment only one thing was important, helping Mom out of this building as soon as possible. Without any further thought I shut the inner door of the lift and pressed the button to the ground floor. Leaving the snake stuck we were moving down with all the speed the lift could run with but still each passing second seemed like an eternity. Going down we could see snakes on all the other floors as well. I couldn't imagine anyone else, inside, being alive right now. But for me, at that moment, it didn't matter. The only thing I was concerned about was to get Mom to safety. We were almost there. We had reached the ground floor and I was helping Mom run as fast as possible. Weirdly there weren't any snakes ahead of us. Suddenly everything became hazy again, the feeling when you know that end is near. We had just reached the gate when the nightmare finally ended, leaving me perplexed and anguished.

This dream was again one of those which make your morning go bad. Other than making me a victim of ophiophobia (fear of snakes) it also made me fear going alone to my terrace.

haunting us while we sleep..."

The Alien Dream

Hello again people of the dream world. Firstly a big thanks to everyone who has read our previous posts. We hope we keep improving our standards and keep you all interested with all our future articles. This is a dream which I had got very recently.Although this one is not as spooky as the previous ones but it still amuses my "Brain".
Here it goes..

When you have no idea where you are, what you're doing or whom you are surrounded by, you definitely know that you're in for a big trouble. It took me several moments to answer these questions to myself. When I indeed did realize, it did not make any sense whatsoever. Here is what exactly happened. I was greeted by cool sea breeze blowing in my face and found myself standing in a huge vessel which at first looked like a stadium made out of wood. This peaceful notion was transformed into that of shock and fear. I was in the middle of a crowd of weird alien like creatures and the "thing" which was directly in front of me resembled the shape of a BRAIN. I could not figure out how the other alien species looked like, it was all very hazy and eerie. But I could definitely trust my instincts which were telling me that the "Brain" shaped alien was not to be trusted. Suddenly all hell broke loose and The Brain had started killing the aliens and it seemed as if he was behind just one person. Me.

This information was not yet perceived by me and I stood there stupefied. I had already given up trying to understand what was happening when the aliens just next to me urged me to run away and hide in a safe place. At that moment it seemed like the best option and I did as I was told. I ran with all the strength that my body could render and went inside a shabby looking room. From there somehow I could see the entire scene unfold. The Brain was still killing off anyone who came in his way in order to reach me. His new ability to shape shift was disclosed when I saw him change into a "normal looking alien" (however ironic that might sound). With his new body he was fiercely inquiring about me. That's when a really nice alien came to me and told me that he would cover up for me and gave a chance to escape. I didn't want anymore lives to be sacrificed but there was also no other way of saving them by just sitting there. So, I started running desperately, finding a route to abscond. That's when my eyes came upon a lifeboat and I jumped into it, hovering it down to the sea. My subconscious, by some means, knew how to row a boat. I was in the middle of the sea and while looking back, though I felt pangs of remorse, there was a sigh of relief.

If we come to think of it, this dream can actually be interpreted in way that I was fighting a battle within myself. The "Brain" is shown evil because of the pressures I had been facing due to the stress levels and the "aliens" being positive energies in my mind constantly telling me to not give up.

The Glass Lady

Before you start reading this make sure you have read the previous one and left behind your views on it. It would mean a lot to us. I had this dream during the last weeks of December, when I was busy preparing for my pre board examination. The reason why it is still so vivid in my mind, you will find out after reading this post. Hope you enjoy it even more than the last one.

It started with me shopping in one of the various malls in our hub city, which one I obviously don't remember. It seemed like one of my lucky days as I had a lot of shopping bags stuffed in my hand. My mom, who was by my side, was talking to me about something but at that moment all I could think of was the purchases I had made. It was a huge mall, one with delicate glass railings all around the floors. As we reached the next floor, I could hear some murmuring in the crowd. There was a lady who seemed to have lost her balance and was almost on the verge of falling down the escalator. She wasn't just an ordinary woman, she was heavily pregnant. Her face looked sweaty and debilitated as she tried unsuccessfully to balance herself. The next moment she was toppling down the escalator, down till the very end step and crashed into the railing which marked the boundary of the second floor, dropping to the ground like a falling stone succumbing to the power of gravity. She fragmented on the ground just like the glass railings that she had smashed into, as if made of that delicate glass herself. The entire scene had taken place in such quick succession that I had mixed feelings of bafflement, shock, and anger and then at last sympathy and discomfort. It was as if it had made no impact on anyone. People had chosen to ignore her when she was helplessly falling off the escalator. I was perplexed as for some strange reason my own body was not in my control and I was fixed to the ground. The whole world went to a daze. The sight of the disintegrated woman woke me up with a dizzying jolt as my nightmare finally came to an end.

I was awake- my eyelids popping wide open and gasped at what a gruesome night it had been.

the worst nightmare,
Than it is after the sweetest dream."

The Enigmatic Night

Hi there. Hope we are not too late publishing this very first article of ours. This is one nightmare which literally made me wake up with a jolt and then ask my mom for company. I had experienced it about five weeks back when the most crucial time of my life was going on. My JEE Advance exam was coming up close and the stress which was building up was stifling.

Like any dream, I of course do not remember how it had started but I found myself seated in a normal taxi. I was returning home that evening from my classes. It was dark outside, more than the usual. The dull grey light of the moon was coming through the old glass window. Although I could feel the taxi moving with a speed much faster than the limit, the people outside seemed to be moving in slow motion. Their silhouettes briefly illuminated by street lamps. That is when, as if something took over the taxi driver, who was till now ignored by my subconscious, pressed the accelerator with all his might and took a sharp turn into one of the narrow moonlit lanes. We kept crashing into the other black shadowy vehicles and screeched onto the footpath but he did not even pause for a second. We were speeding into what felt like no where when I noticed a dust like figure with a vagrant look, even from far, going towards a small shop on the other side of the road. He seemed to be pleading desperately to a person inside the shop, as if asking for help.Although, all I could see was just dark matter inside the little shop, as we passed it by at an amazing speed. Curious to know of what becomes of that man, I turned around to see a hand reaching out to him but before I could realize what it actually was, there was blinding light and the man was dead, long before the gun shot reached my ear. There should have been blood but there was hardly anything that could be seen and the poor man just lay on the side way as if he were asleep. The taxi jerked forward but my eyes were glued to the horrible scene that had unfolded before me moments ago. The darkness and the silence seemed to have become, all of a sudden, much deeper. There was something strange about the vehicle I was seated in. I turned around and to my horror, saw the taxi driver's wicked face for the first time.Giving me a crooked smile, he simply said, "You're next".

Although it is not clear what purpose these dreams serve, or what relationship the content of our disturbing dreams may have to issues concerning our working lives, but what was clear after this dream was that I probably would never travel in a taxi at night alone. Ever.

"Waking up with a jolt" Take One

The human heart has hidden treasures,
In secret kept, in silence sealed,
The thoughts, the hopes, the dreams, the pleasures,
Whose charms are broken if revealed....

Bonjour to the people of dream land, who tend to wake up with a jolt, courtesy to their horrifying dreams, and also to the people who are here for some fun reading. This is our first time as bloggers and here is why we are here. "My partner in crime" if I may refer to her as that has been having terrifying nightmares for quite sometime now. She is basically the reason why this blog exists, as after hearing some handful of her spooky dreams I decided it was about time we made something positive out of her misery. There have been instances of her having sleepless nights with twists and turns and waking up in the morning wondering that a bad night is definitely not the best way to start any day.The word 'nightmare' is derived from Old English "mare", a mythological demon or goblin who torments others with frightening dreams. Well, don't worry we are here for the exact opposite purpose. This blog serves as a platform where we will share our own personal experiences of nightmares in an elaborated story form and also invite anyone interested to do so. The great writer, also one of our favorites, J.K Rowling, once said through the awe inspiring character Albus Dumbledore "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." Taking the very literal meaning we hope The Illusionist reaches out to the people having similar experiences and wish our stories grab your attention. Thank You everyone and anyone who visits this blog even once.
